I did an Online Repair and let it install a clean OS from the internet, which was Lion.The App Store on Lion will not let me download the El Capitan update because, starting just a few days ago, I can no longer update my Payment Information. Is upgrading old machine now impossible? I just installed a brand new hard drive in an older MacBook Pro I salvaged trying to repair it.
